The Mahjong League - Fall Season

The Mahjong League at Where Dragons Play is a 6-week competitive league designed for players who love friendly competition, consistent weekly play, and building community around the mahjong table.

Whether you're looking to sharpen your game, make new friends, or see your name at the top of the leaderboard, League is the perfect way to take your mahjong experience to the next level.

League will meet Monday evenings from 6:30–9:30 PM, beginning September 14 and concluding October 26, at Where Dragons Play. Monday, September 28th will be a bye-week. To create the best player experience and keep tables balanced throughout the season, participation is limited to just 28 players.

Who Should Join?

League is designed for players who are already comfortable playing American Mahjong independently.

This is a competitive league, so participants should be able to:

• Read the NMJL card independently
• Build and exchange hands without assistance
• Keep play moving at a comfortable pace
• Understand standard American Mahjong rules and etiquette

If you're brand new to mahjong, we'd love to have you join one of our Mahjong 101 lessons before signing up for League!

Attendance

League is most fun when everyone is there each week!

If you know you'll miss a League Night, you're welcome to send a substitute player in your place.

Please note:

• Substitutes help keep the tables balanced but do not earn points for themselves.
• The registered League player will not receive attendance or game points for any week they are absent, even if a substitute plays in their place.

Because standings are based on weekly participation and performance, consistent attendance is encouraged.

Registration

Registration is limited to 28 players and will close once all spots are filled.

If space remains available, registration will close on September 7, 2026, one week before League begins, to allow time for table assignments and scheduling.
